    California is hiring for state jobs with some remote work. Positions start at $3,600 a month

    California is hiring for several state jobs offering a hybrid work schedule and remote work.

    Open positions are available within the departments of water resources, justice, social services and more.

    State jobs are known for offering competitive benefits and enrollment in the nation’s largest state public pension plan. Many of the following jobs have specific requirements — which are linked below.

    Though Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration announced plans in April that could require state employees to work in-office for a minimum of two days per week starting this summer, some positions were listed as remote-centered as of Tuesday.

    These were some of the latest state jobs offering remote or hybrid work on the CalCareers website, as of Tuesday:

    Human resources specialist | Limited, full-time

    • Department: Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety
    • Location: Sacramento County
    • Salary: $6,760 to $8,398 per month

    The human resources specialist is responsible for leading, developing and drafting all human resources policies, procedures and processes.

    This is a remote-centered position. However, applicants must live in California, according to the CalCareers website.

    While this position is limited term for 12 months, it can be extended or become permanent.

    Technical lead | Permanent, full-time

    • Department: Technology
    • Location: Sacramento County
    • Salary: $6,139 to $9,932 per month

    The technical lead performs a wide variety of tasks requiring problem-solving in the areas of software engineering, system engineering and client services.

    Telework is available for this position, according to the CalCareers website.

    Project management support | Permanent, full-time

    • Department: Social Services
    • Location: Sacramento County
    • Salary: $4,651 to $8,238 per month

    The project management support position involves providing management support for projects, following department standards and implementing best practices to achieve project goals.

    Some responsibilities include updating processes, developing project plans, conducting business analysis, testing user acceptance and leading projects.

    This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, according to the CalCareers website. However, applicants must live in California.

    Performance management analyst | Permanent, full-time

    • Department: Rehabilitation
    • Location: Sacramento County
    • Salary: $5,684 to $7,114 per month

    The public utilities regulatory analyst V is responsible for providing expert subject matter on wildfires.

    This is a remote-centered position. However, applicants must live in California to report to offices in Los Angeles, Sacramento or San Francisco when required, according to the CalCareers website.

    Disaster assistance programs specialist I | Permanent, full-time

    • Department: California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services
    • Location: Orange County
    • Salary: $4,490 to $6,178 per month

    The disaster assistance programs specialist performs tasks related to federal and state disaster assistance within the department.

    Some responsibilities include overseeing grants management, managing public assistance, providing research analysis, maintaining documentation and assisting with departmental administration.

    While this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with up to two days of remote work per week, additional in-office work days can be required.
