When we make something from scratch, we know exactly what goes into it. This is especially important when using something like mayonnaise. Preparing our own allows us to select the type of oil, the eggs, and the flavors. And despite its seemingly complicated nature, making mayonnaise from scratch is a surprisingly simple process.

This recipe won’t make you worry about consuming raw eggs, and the freshness of this homemade dressing might make you toss out those ultra-processed store-bought jars.

Watch how easy it is to make from scratch in this video shared on June 30:

    1. Boil and peel three eggs and add them to a blender.
    2. Add water, olive oil, white vinegar, and salt to taste.
    3. Puree! Wow! That sure was easy.

At first, he was a little hesitant to try a spoonful of this mayo. However, he soon discovered that it tasted pretty good, even if it was different from the mayonnaise we are used to. Then, when he compared it to store-bought Hellmann’s, he realized just how delicious the homemade version truly is. He reports, “I like this way better. I could just eat a sandwich of this!” He definitely has me feeling intrigued enough to try it myself. This would likely be especially tasty on foods that go well with eggs. Perhaps it would make the perfect topping for a burger or with turkey, bacon, and avocado. It might even taste divinely blended with tuna for a protein-packed lunch .

If you’re looking to make a more traditional homemade mayonnaise , it’s equally simple. Most recipes use egg yolk, Dijon mustard, oil, salt, pepper, and freshly squeezed lemon juice to give it that well-known tanginess. I wonder if we could replace the vinegar with lemon juice in this hard-boiled egg recipe to achieve a similar taste.

People shared their culinary suggestions. Viewer @CarolSparger responded, “And the fun thing is you can add whatever you like to it to make it even healthier! Rosemary, garlic, etc. Have fun!” Herbs would add an extra layer of flavor. Another person shared, “I tried my with Dijon mustard, and it tasted way better.” Good to know.

Although this recipe might be untraditional, that doesn’t mean we won’t find several ways to use it. Who knows? We might like it even more than the ultra-processed store brands.
