Niall Horan Had to Walk to His Toronto Show Because of Traffic

The constant social (not to mention ecological) chaos wrought upon humanity by the automobile industry hit Niall Horan hard ahead of his show in Toronto last week. The musician found himself stuck in a traffic jam so brutal he decided to hop out of his car and walk to the Scotiabank Arena.

“Traffic too crazy in Toronto, so I’m walking to the venue,” Horan quipped in a video shared on Instagram over the weekend. The camera proceeded to follow him en route to the venue, sped up and paired with (fittingly) the goofy rendition of the Proclaimers “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” that Horan and James Corden sang on The Late Late Show several years back. (Meaning, no, he did not add an extra laugh track to his Instagram video.)

After his lengthy journey — past numerous fans, it appeared, who did not seem to clock the musician strolling by — Horan arrived at the entrance and marveled: “In all of the years playing shows, I don’t think I’ve ever walked into a venue.” (You can check the video on the last slide of the carousel.)

Horan is taking a short week off following his two shows in Toronto over the weekend, but he’ll return to the road this Sunday, July 7, in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His North American run will continue through August, after which he’ll head to Ireland and the U.K., then Mexico and South America.

Horan has been touring in support of his third studio album, The Show , which he released last June. An expanded edition of the record was released a few months later, containing a combination of live songs (including a few covers), as well as new collaborative versions of two tracks: “The Show,” featuring John Legend,” and “You Could Start a Cult” with Lizzy McAlpine.
