It’s Wednesday, you’ve (almost) made it! The work week is halfway done, and the prospect of big weekend rides is beckoning. Until then, here’s a roundup of the best bike (and non-bike) content that’s caught our eye this week.

Dylan Russell - Social Media Manager

    Shadows from the Understory

This week has been great for bike videos, with some bangers dropping. First up is an instant classic, Calvin Huth and Dillon Butcher. These two combined on a project is guaranteed art, and “Shadows From The Understory” is no different. To commit and follow through on such a long project, shows the passion in this one. How was Dillon able to hold the same style riding those jumps in every condition, all while Calvin nailed the same shots in every season? Very impressive work, pushing the boundaries of filming and riding. More of this!

    Electric Unicorn

Brett Rheeder keeping it short and simple; tasteful cable cams, long pans, high speed tight trees and after watching it, all I wanted to do was go ride my bike. He might be known for laying down tricks over massive features, but Brett sure can rip a trail bike with effortless steeze. On top of this being a sweet edit, this trail built by Brett’s insane builder Ben Byers is now open to the public. After using this trail for a few edits, it was time to let the Vernon locals enjoy it as well. He gave out the coordinates in the post of the video with Trailforks directions following. Pretty cool to see an athlete give back to his local area like that!

There’s not much that distracts me from bikes like women’s gymnastics, I dunno why. Oh wait, yes I do: JUST WATCH SIMONE BILES DEFY GRAVITY that’s why. Cannot wait for the Paris Games to start. (Also: catch that T Swift in Simone’s routine music mashup…)

Ope! More Olympics content! Nonbinary runner Nikki Hiltz is going to the Olympics after their freaking stunner of a finish holy hell I dunno if I’ve ever moved that fast even on my bike.

The first-ever Women’s BMX Park event was held this weekend at X-Games and Hannah Roberts took home gold proving, once again, that #everyonewatcheswomenssports

Who does this? Alexadera Houchin changed bike sponsors but didn’t want to let go of her old rig for sentimental reasons, so she’s lending it to other folks. “Over time, my dream is that this bike gets to race all over the US.” I love the bike community. I really do.

Phil Atwill is one of my favorite riders to watch. His riding style oozes fluid aggression. This quick raw banger in Saalbach bike park, Austria is packed with MTB ASMR and Phil’s playful and precise style.

    Phil Atwill X Saalbach (Raw)

Bikes should be fun, and Phil is a great example of someone who can take it seriously when needed but never loses sight of the real reason we do this.

Not bikes, but damn, is it cool. Katie Schide and Jim Walmsley both ran the second-fastest Western States 100 finishing times this last week, with Katie besting her 2nd place finish from 2023 with a finishing time of 15:46.

Jim returned after a three-year hiatus to secure his fourth WSER 1st place. Walmsley is slated to have a pretty impressive season after he became the first American man to win the UTMB .

I know we’ve got this big “Summer of No FOMO” ad campaign running right now, and I’m usually pretty good about setting myself up to be content with what I’m doing, but man, I had a lot of FOMO two weekends ago during the return of Psychosis.

    Transition Goes to Psychosis

I really, really wish I’d been able to swing my schedule to drive up to Golden and behold the return of this beast. Luckily the Transition crew made it possible for me to experience this race vicariously. It sure looks like a great time, and I really appreciate that they managed to incorporate a Pennywise song for The Collective’s sake (even if I will always associate “Bro Hymn” with Shane McConkey. If the Golden Cycling Club ever puts on Psychosis again, you can bet your last dollar that I’ll figure out a way to be there.
