On June 24, Wyoming Whiskey announced the release of a whiskey perfectly timed to drop ahead of July 4 celebrations: Independence Rock, a limited-edition wheated bourbon available exclusively in Wyoming. Distilled from a mashbill of 68% corn, 20% wheat and 12% malted barley, Independence Rock is bottled at 49% ABV and has a suggested retail price of $79.99. According to the brand, Independence Rock is an ode to the pioneers of the West and the journeys they took. As for the whiskey itself, Independence Rock is made from Wyoming grains, distilled in Kirby, Wyoming, "by traditional means" and aged in Wyoming Whiskey's rickhouses. As Wyoming Whiskey put it in a news release, Independence Rock is "more than a bourbon; it is a celebration that reverberates with the enduring heartbeat of our nation's heritage." Independence Rock pays homage to July 4, and for more than the obvious reason; Wyoming Whiskey's first production began July 4, 2009.
