HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Drivers getting on the road for the Fourth of July holiday is underway with steady gas prices in Connecticut.

Triple A is reporting average gas prices of $3.57 per gallon in Connecticut, up a penny in the last day and three cents in the last week.

The average today is down a nickel from where they were a month ago and also from where they were averaging a year ago.

The motor club pegs the national average a little lower, at $3.50.

It comes as Triple A predicts some 70.9 million people with travel for Independence Day 2024, with about 60-million of them driving more than 50 miles away from home.

During the entire week surrounding the July 4 holiday, about 839,000 Connecticut residents are going to be among those traveling.
