Big Sean Speaks On 'Full Circle' Moment With Eminem Following New Collab
By Tony M. Centeno,
Big Sean has worked with Eminem in the past, but their latest collaboration marks a sentimental milestone in his career.
Shortly after Em released his new single "Tobey" on Tuesday, July 2, Sean Don took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and recalled how much of an impact the Shady Records co-founder has made on his life. He remembered that Eminem's The Slim Shady LP was the first album he bought with his own money at Costco. Decades later, he's currently on his fourth collaboration with the Detroit legend and is set to appear on his upcoming album The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) .
"Not gon hold you, Slim Shady LP was the first CD i bought wit my own money at Costco," Sean wrote. "Me n Em bout 4 songs in now (DVE, No Favors, Detroit 2 cypher) but being on the Death Of Slim Shady is full circle. I aint know when i bought that, that id be one of the next 1’s out da city…"
"Let alone even know Em," he continued. "A reminder to myself of how real unrealistic really is."
Big Sean first collaborated with Eminem on "Detroit vs. Everybody" in 2014. Not long afterward, Sean called on Em to hop on "No Favors" for his 2017 album I Decided. They reunited again for "Friday Night Cypher" alongside a slew of other Detroit MC's for Sean's 2020 LP Detroit 2 . For their latest collaboration, Sean returned the favor and dropped a stellar verse for the latest single from his upcoming 12th studio album, which arrives July 12.
"I got love and hate comin' from both directions," Sean raps. "B***h, I come from the D where they BMFing/Where they movin' them keys like a chord progression/B***h, I'm omnipresent, I got no reflection/Made a livin' off bars, I need no correction."
Look out for the official music video for Eminem, Big Sean and BabyTron's new song "Tobey" arriving this Friday.
