A mum-to-be pulled a hilarious stunt on her snoozing spouse amidst the throes of childbirth .

Brooke Chapman's other half dozed off while she was in labour, leading her to prank him into believing he'd missed the arrival of their newborn .

The TikTok footage is captioned with Brooke's words: "My husband napped most of my labor and missed a lot of the progress we made."

She conspired with the nurses for a bit of fun, cradling a decoy infant as the medical staff played along, pretending it was the real deal.

Upon his awakening, they teased: "Doug, you just missed everything." Groggy and disoriented, his initial retort was simply: "No, I didn't."

They pressed on, urging him to check out the 'baby'. But he wasn't duped.

"Y'all are ------- stupid," he retorted from his couch perch, before the room erupted into giggles. Later, Brooke gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

In the comments section, opinions were split. Some lambasted the dad for his slumber, suggesting the prank was well-deserved.

One commenter quipped: "No but my husband would be going straight to jail."

Another recounted: "My husband tried to sleep during my labor. I was like 'oh hell no'. His sister said 'poor guy is so tired. He needs some rest'. The rage I felt thru my body was indescribable."

Yet some defended the idea of a partner catching Zs, arguing they'd prefer a rested husband over an irritating one during labour.

One person commented: "I'd rather my husband nap than stare at me and annoy me the whole time. I'm going to need him more after birth than during labor."

A user shared their unique birthing plan strategy, stating: "Am I the only one who asked their husband to please sleep? I knew I would be soo tired after delivery. I needed someone to be fully awake and rested to take care of me and baby."
