Superman Set Photos Reveal First Look at Green Lantern and Hawkgirl

It was only a matter of time before we got our first look at the other superheroes in James Gunn's new DCU, and we now have it. The first look at Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl in the upcoming Superman movie has been revealed, though not how WB would have hoped.

The photos come from the set of Superman, clicked by the official account of Cleveland , where the film is shooting its exterior scenes. The photos show David Corenswet's Superman, Nathan Fillion's Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi's Mister Terrific, and Isabela Merced's Hawkgirl filming an action scene.

Merced's Hawkgirl looks quite comic-accurate, sporting the iconic bird motif and the yellow-and-black color scheme. Merced can be seen holding a mace as well, a well-known weapon the character is known to use. Of course, the photos don't see her sporting the iconic wings, which will be added in post-production.

The more interesting look is that of Fillion's Green Lantern, who isn't wearing the well-known green full-body suit of the corps. Instead, Fillion can be seen wearing a mostly white costume, with green accents, and a leather jacket with the logo of Maxwell Lord's LordTech on his chest, the same one that's also on Mister Terrific's suit. And yes, he does sport red hair, but not a bowl cut. What's surprising though is that we couldn't spot a power ring, the one used by GL Corps to conjure constructs, on Fillion's fingers.

It's certainly a look and quite different from Guy Gardner's usual attire in the DC Comics. Some fans have prematurely decided it doesn't look good, just as they did when Corenswet's Clark Kent costume was revealed . Of course, it should be reiterated that set photos seldom give us the full picture and a character like Green Lantern will undoubtedly be touched up by a lot of VFX.

James Gunn has clarified that no significant spoiler from the movie has been revealed through set photos, and it shouldn't be long before an official look at these characters is revealed. Until then, this will remain our only look at the DCU's Green Lantern attire, one that may continue to be used in the upcoming Lanterns series on HBO .
