OKALOOSA ISLAND — U.S. 98 travel lanes between Brooks Bridge and Pier Road will shift south onto temporary lanes beginning the week of July 8, allowing crews to construct the new westbound Brooks Bridge structure.

Two lanes will remain open in each direction.

Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures from Ferry Road to Pier Road between 9 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday.

This is part of the $171 million Brooks Bridge Replacement Project, which includes the construction of two new parallel bridges to increase capacity from four lanes to six.

The project is expected to be completed by summer 2027. The FDOT notes that all activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather.
