More than 200 new jobs coming to Tioga County Pa. plant thanks to $100 million expansion

A Tioga County, Pennsylvania manufacturing facility will add more than 200 jobs to its workforce through a $100 million expansion project.

Victaulic, a leading producer of grooved mechanical pipe joining and flow control systems, will construct a 150,000-square-foot addition to its Lawrenceville foundry to accommodate new molding lines, melt furnaces, core machines, and automated finishing and paint equipment to help produce larger scale products.

Gov. Josh Shapiro announced the commonwealth is supporting the expansion, which is anticipated to create 214 new jobs, with $1.5 million in funding.

"By investing in economic development projects like this one, we are creating good-paying jobs, reigniting our economy, and supporting our communities," Shapiro said in a news release.

The sprawling 220,000-square-foot facility along state Route 287 has been the home to manufacturing for several decades. It was once known as Ward Manufacturing and was later owned by Waupaca Foundry.

Waupaca closed the Lawrenceville site, which employed about 200 people at the time, in August 2020. Victaulic, which operates worldwide and is based in Easton, Pennsylvania, purchased and reopened the foundry in April 2021, initially creating about 100 jobs.

Victaulic received $1.5 million through Pennsylvania's Keystone Communities Program to help fund the purchase of the facility.

The new expansion project underscores Victaulic's commitment to creating family-sustaining jobs that positively impact communities, said company President and CEO Rick Bucher.

"The expansion will also bolster our manufacturing infrastructure, ensuring Victaulic remains the industry leader in producing high-quality, innovative solutions for the construction industry and our North American customers," Bucher said.

State Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Williamsport, worked with the Governor’s Action Team and Victaulic on Lawrenceville project.

"Victaulic's expansion signifies a pivotal investment in the community," Yaw said, "championing economic growth and the creation of numerous jobs, while reinforcing our dedication to local prosperity and innovation."
