Chef Bobby Flay Celebrates His Gorgeous Maine Coon Cat Canelo's Birthday

Celebrity chef, restaurateur, food writer, reality TV star and one of our favorite cat daddies, Bobby Flay, recently celebrated a special milestone for one of his furriest family members.

His gorgeous apricot Maine Coon cat Canelo celebrated his first birthday and looking at his Instagram celebratory post, this kitten is all ready bigger than most full grown cats.

Maine Coon cats are always big and beautiful , but Canelo is just so gorgeous!

Flay posted in his Instagram message on the Made By Nacho account "Happy 1st birthday to our hungriest little taste tester!  Treat your cat to a Lickable Mousse in @caneloflay ‘s honor today."

Made By Nacho is Flay's cat food brand that was crafted by the chef in honor of his Maine Coon cat named Nacho who sadly passed away in October of last year. Nacho was so beloved not only by his cat dad, but by his hundreds of thousands of social media followers. He was such a beautiful cat.

So many of us were heartbroken when he passed and watching Flay interact with Nacho was always so special. It's so touching to see that he's added Canelo to his family, and you can never replace a pet with another pet, but it's an honor to your pet that has crossed the rainbow bridge to open up your heart and home to another animal.

One funny aspect of Flay's Instagram post is when he shares that Maine Coons keep growing until they are around four-years-old. My own Maine Coon, Meatball , is just 8-months-old and at his last vet appointment he checked in at 15 pounds. He weighs more than my other cats that are much older than he is, and he's just going to keep growing. I may have to try Made By Nacho food for him considering Flay's Maine Coons love it so much!

How Big Do Maine Coon Cats Get?

Catster explains that male Maine Coons cats weigh , on average, between 18 to 22 pounds (8.2 to 10 kg) when fully grown. When it comes to females, they’re not as heavy. Female Maine Coons weigh between 12 to 15 pounds (5.4 to 6.8 kg) on average. Some individuals might be heavier, but on average, they tend to fall between these weights.

These amazing cats usually stop growing at around four years when they are considered full size. To compare, most domestic cats stop growing at about a year old.

I think I'm going to have to stock up on more cat food!
