McDonald's is making some changes to their menu offerings, revealing what items customers shouldn't expect to see again.

The home of the Golden Arches has introduced several new items to its lineup over the past several months, and as the saying goes—as things are giveth, things are also taketh away. Among the items being removed from the menu are a selection of plant-based offerings, as the once-trendy food craze has seen little demand from McDonald's consumers.

McDonald’s U.S. President Joe Erlinger said during the WSJ Global Food Forum that salads won't be returning to the menu due to low demand. He also shared that its plant-based McPlant burger will be discontinued after being developed in 2021.

“I don’t think the U.S. consumer is coming to McDonald’s looking for the McPlant or other plant-based proteins,” Erlinger stated during the forum.

On the upside, though, the fast food eatery did reveal it has been seeing success with its newly-introduced low-price menu, which launched on June 25 for only a limited time and offers customers a $5 meal that includes a McChicken sandwich, four-piece Chicken McNuggets or a McDouble, along with fries and a drink.

Additionally, the chain added a new ice cream treat in May called the Grandma McFlurry —combining vanilla soft serve with a “delicious syrup” and crunchy candy pieces—and for the plant-based foodies, it is testing vegan ice cream in select locations in both chocolate and strawberry flavors.

It was also recently announced that McDonald's is adding a game-changing new dipping sauce to its condiment offerings beginning on July 9: Special Grade Garlic Sauce .
