While Dennis Rodman is widely and more popularly regarded as the NBA's most eccentric personality, Metta Sandiford-Artest could be considered a close second. The 1-time All-Star's unpredictable behavior ranged from instigating the Malice at the Palace brawl to attempting to work at an electronic store while still an active NBA player to entering into a shouting contest with Pat Riley.

Just when one thinks they've heard it all about the 6'7" small forward, Mike Bibby 's recent admission about his craziest memory of Metta further cements his reputation as a peculiar individual.

Bibby on Artest driving an F1 car with his wife

While NBA players are known for their extravagant purchases, Metta took eccentricity to new heights by arriving at a Sacramento Kings game in a Formula One car. Speaking on The OGs podcast, Mike hilariously shared the details of the hilarious event.

"Ron Artest came to a game in an F1 car," Bibby said . "Listen up, he had a helmet on, his wife was sitting behind him. It was one of those cars. They both wore helmets to the game. The cop told him, 'Ron, this is not street legal. I can't let you leave and drive this home.'"

F1 cars fail to meet numerous Department of Transportation requirements, including insufficient ground clearance, lack of horns, taillights, indicators, headlights, and reflectors. Despite the glaring violations, Artest cruised in style, which left hosts Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller laughing and wondering if any other player would ever pull this off.

    Metta loved racing cars

Artest's fascination with racing cars extended beyond a single incident. In 2010, during his tenure with the L.A. Lakers, the 6'7" small forward was stopped by law enforcement while driving an Eagle Roadster .

This vehicle was also a street-legal version of an Indy-style race car, custom-built as a kit automobile. It boasts a powerful 235-horsepower Chrysler V6 engine. According to the manufacturer, this car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 4.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 152 mph.

Metta was never a player who feared the consequences of getting into trouble. However, it does seem that he definitely got a kick out of driving caring cars while wearing full gear.
