For a music artist, having a song crack the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 is reaching the top of the mountain. Some work for years to see one of their songs finally break in, and some capture lightning in a bottle and get lucky with their very first single. Having just one top 10 hit is a massive accomplishment, but some artists have had a dozen top 10 hits or more.
The Billboard Hot 100 is one of the most widely recognized and authoritative music charts on earth, and since its debut in 1958 it’s been considered the gold standard for tracking the success of a song. Released every week, it provides a snapshot of that week’s most popular and successful songs based on factors including promotion, radio play and streaming trends.
To determine the artists with the most top 10 hits, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on historical chart performance from the Billboard Hot 100. Artists were ranked based on the total number of entries into the top 10 of the Hot 100 throughout their careers. Chart data is current through June 8, 2024.
In many ways, having a “hit” single means that it’s cracked the Top 10, and if you have as many as these artists, you’re officially a superstar. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t be a superstar unless you’ve had a Billboard hit – these popular artists have never had a Billboard Number One Hit .
Methodology:
To determine the artists with the most top 10 hits, 24/7 Tempo reviewed data on historical chart performance from the Billboard Hot 100 . Artists were ranked based on the total number of entries into the top 10 of the Hot 100 throughout their careers. Chart data is current through June 8, 2024.
