    E. coli found at 10 Lake Erie beaches: ODH

    CLEVELAND (WJW) — Multiple Lake Erie beaches in Northeast Ohio are under a bacteria contamination advisory.

    Several Lake Erie beaches are listed as having high bacteria levels. According to the Ohio Department of Health , the advisory is “posted when the level of bad bacteria in the water has reached unsafe levels and could make you sick. Children, the elderly and those in ill health or weakened immune systems are advised not to swim.”

    These Lake Erie beaches are listed under a Bacteria Contamination Advisory :

    • Cuyahoga County: Bay Park Beach, Clifton Beach, Columbia Park Beach
    • Erie County: Darby Creek, Cranberry Creek, Picjerel Creek, Bay View West
    • Ottawa County: Kelleys Island State Park
    • Ashtabula County: Geneva State Park, Lakeshore Park

    According to state sampling results , the bacteria found in the water was E. coli.
