Then, to her surprise, she gave birth to a boy. She began to stress out because she hadn’t considered boy names .
She finally chose one - Quinlan James Hardy.
Posting on Reddit , she said: “It has always sat in the back of my brain for many years and never considered it until now and the more I said it, it felt right.”
When she told her friends and her mom, they all said they liked the name. Her husband was more skeptical. The more he times said the name, the more he liked it.
Someone eventually posted the name on Facebook for the world to see. She texted her dad and his wife to see how he felt about the name.
“Let me just say, this felt like a VERY proud moment for me because the middle name is in honor of my Dad. Never, never, ever, ever, in a million years, did I expect the phone call I got from him the next day.”
He said: "You know I love ya, right?. Do NOT name him that. It's horrible, he'll be bullied and made fun of, you just can't do it.”
He sent her names that are “more manly”, including Tank, Pax, Zander, Axel and James Wade. After the dad’s insights, the rest of the family began to object as well. Now, even her husband has turned against the name she chose.
In the comments, people assured her not to listen to her dad. But they agreed that Quinlan isn’t a great name .
“If you love it, stick to your guns. No one has the right to influence you to change it. It’s uncommon but there is nothing wrong with the name, and Quinn is a really cute short form.”
Another wrote: “I don’t think it’s bad! If you need alternatives, my sisters knew a Quinten growing up and he was in with the popular kids so highly doubt he ever got bullied lol.”
