LEGO teases new Jaws set to commemorate movie’s 50th anniversary

LEGO has seemingly given a first look at the new Jaws set in honor of the movie’s 50th anniversary. The company posted a video on its Instagram showing a LEGO woman in a red bathing suit swimming, to then encounter a giant LEGO shark.
It’s captioned, “Da-dum…da-dum…da-dum, da-dum da-dum….etc,” imitating the harrowing and iconic music from the film. The Steven Spielberg classic was released in 1975, making it 50 years old next year. More information about the set has been speculated online, though LEGO has yet to confirm those details.
Instagram account @fateful_lego shared a post of the LEGO set, saying it will feature 1,497 pieces priced at $159.99. The account said it’s set to release on August 1. The set comes with a fishing boat like the one in the movie, complete with miniatures of Chief Martin Brody, Quint, and Matt Hooper (played by Roy Scheinder, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, respectively.)
The highlight of the set is the giant shark that’s half the size of the boat.
Mirror US has reached out to LEGO to confirm those details.
BrickFanatics reported the set has been a long time coming. The idea was approved in May of last year, and it’s been in the design phase since.
On Reddit, fans are already preparing to drop a large sum on the set.
One user said, “I'm gonna need a bigger wallet,” while another followed up, “We’re gonna need a bigger shelf.” Both were referencing a famous line from the movie, in which Chief Brody says, "We're gonna need a bigger boat."
“Wow they really knocked it out of the park with the figure too. I’m a massive Quint fan and I’m taking them all to the vineyard to see some filming locations.”
A person wrote: “Honestly, best LEGO diorama set yet [in my opinion]. But I still think dioramas are massively overpriced for what they are. I'd pay like [$100] at most for this one.”
