RUIDOSO, N.M. (KRQE) – Individuals and families impacted by the South Fork and Salt fires may be eligible for Disaster Supplemental Nutritional Program (D-SNAP) benefits. The benefits will be for one month of groceries.

People can apply for the benefits in-person at:

    • Roswell ISD Field Office: 1701 S. Sunset Ave, Roswell, NM 88203

Those offices will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily from July 10 through 12 and July 14 through 17 – but on the first three days, people will be served alphabetically. The disbursement schedule is based on applicants’ last names.

The benefits are available for individuals who lost their home or belongings or who lost income or incurred un-reimbursed expenses due to the fires. The benefit allotment and eligibility depends on your income, so staff will ask about that when you apply.

The New Mexico Health Care Authority says around 18,000 residents may be eligible for the benefits. That includes people who live or work in the zip codes: 88355, 88345, 88346, 88312, and 88340.
