If you're in the market for a new home, or else redoing your existing bathroom, you're going to want to watch this woman's cautionary tale. In her video, she breaks down some of the reason why she says a popular bathroom tile isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
After watching this clip, we're adding these to our list of deal breakers should we ever decide to redo our shower, because absolutely nobody has time for all this maintenance and upkeep!
By the looks of things, @ashnicholel has found a fulltime job in keeping her shower tiles clean. According to the busy mom, she has to physically get into the shower and scrub her tiles down with a caustic mix of chemicals to prevent them from looking dirty and dingy, something she claims is their standard appearance.
If regular use alone is enough to make this big of a mess, we can't imagine what they would look like in our house where the kids and dog all take turns seeing who can get the dirtiest each day!
The OP wasn't alone in her complaints. Plenty of people chimed in down in the comments, sharing their distain for the popular penny tiles. Some even shared what has worked for them in the past, giving us lots of ideas as to what we can try on our own problem areas in the bath.
"What if you cleaned and bleached the grout really well then used a grout sealer," one person wrote. "Might help reduce mildew growth and make maintenance cleaning quicker/easier."
Another shared how they'd had a lot of luck with Barkeepers Friend.
"Girl you need ZEP grout cleaner â it would take every single stain out," yet another person wrote.
Try This Hack for Cleaning the Bathroom
If you're also struggling to keep your bathroom clean, you may want to try this woman's impressive hack for scrubbing off build up and grime: Borax. That's right, she swears by using the powdered cleaner, which has a wealth of uses beyond the bathtub .
All you'll need is the powder, an abrasive sponge or scrub brush, and some elbow grease. Pour the powder liberally on the area that needs scrubbing , wet your sponge, and then get to work!
The original poster claims you'll be amazed by how quickly everything will come up using this method!
Penny Tiles Are Hard To Maintain
Now that we know just how big of a struggle penny tiles can be to keep clean, we're definitely going to reconsider our love for this popular design. Which really is a shame because they do look so cute when they're laid in bathrooms!
