    West Virginia firefighter brings home national honors

    CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) — A West Virginia firefighter has been honored in a national competition.

    Jamie Bero, of Kanawha County, took fourth place in the “Skills USA” National College Division Firefighting competition in Atlanta. She represented the Putnam Career and Technical Center where she trains in Eleanor.

    Hurricane Police hold K-9 demonstration

    Bero took top honors at the West Virginia state competition earlier this year.

    At the same event, her instructor, Darin Virag, from Putnam Career and Technical, was named the Outstanding Career and Technical Educator in the nation. He is a retired Charleston Fire Department Captain.
