Gov. Little announces new initiative to commemorate nation's 250th birthday

IDAHO - Governor Brad Little announced the launch of a new initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the country in 2026.

According to a press release, the new initiative, America250, will advance projects and community engagement opportunities to honor the milestone and Idaho's place in American history.

On Wednesday, Gov. Little signed a proclamation establishing a multi-agency task force to plan, coordinate, and promote statewide observances and activities as part of this initiative. The Idaho State Historical Society will lead the task force.

Officials say the task force will work with the American250 in Idaho Advisory Council to inspire statewide participation.

Idaho is one of many states across the nation formally celebrating the national milestone.
