ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A woman was arrested at an Anderson County bank after she allegedly tried to deposit checks that were reported stolen.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a forgery in progress Saturday at a bank along South Main Street. Deputies were told that 39-year-old Brandy Swindler, of Anderson County, was attempting to deposit two fraudulent checks at the establishment.

Authorities said Swindler has faced previous financial crimes. The suspect managed to retrieve thousands of dollars by using stolen checks and making them out to herself before depositing them according to deputies.

Deputies arrived at the facility and made contact with Swindler. Following a search, authorities found a stolen checkbook along with four stolen credit cards.

The sheriff’s office charged Swindler with six counts of forgery and financial credit card theft.

She remains in custody at the Anderson County Detention Center according to deputies.
