    See a turkey or grouse in Ohio? Report it

    COLUMBUS, Ohio (WJW) – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife is asking residents to report sightings of both wild turkeys and ruffed grouse this summer.

    According to a press release from ODNR , the public, or “community scientists,” are asked to submit their sightings online to help predict future population changes, estimate brood success and guide management decisions.

    Those sightings can be reported online through the Wildlife Reporting System or on the HuntFish OH mobile app in July and August.

    Ohioans are asked to report sightings of gobblers, hens and young turkeys, according to the release.

    “Biologists have tracked summer observations of wild turkeys since 1962 and of grouse since 1999,” the release said. “Both wild turkeys and ruffed grouse have been the subject of Division of Wildlife research in recent years.”
