Country star Bri Bagwell rescued her little dog Whiskey in the winter of 2019 when she found the tiny Chihuahua in the middle of the road hungry, cold and absolutely terrified. Since then it's pretty safe to say that Whiskey has been living her best life, not only accompanying her super talented mama on tour, but also being featured in the gorgeous song The Rescue that Bri dedicated to her.

ParadePets caught up with the Texas Female Country Artist of the Decade to ask her how Whiskey feels about fireworks.

    Whiskey's face is everything!

Bri explained, "For 4th of July, I have already packed Whiskey's essentials. I know it's a bit ridiculous to buy your dog headphones for sound check, but I did because she likes to lay right beside me - but right in front of my drummer - when we set up. Little did I know, they would be a lifesaver when it comes to fireworks, too! She will be in her Thunder Jacket (another LIFESAVER that someone gave me as a gift) + her headphones + a CBD calming treat (verdict is still out on these). She actually fell asleep on me last 4th of July with that combination. I'll see if it works again this year! My condolences to all of the pups out there... ruff stuff."

Bri will be performing in Kerrville, TX 4:30pm at Kerrville’s Fourth on the River! Louise Hays Park. Fireworks start at 9:30 and I'm sure Whiskey will staying close to her mom!

    All About 'The Rescue'

Bri wrote the song The Rescue about Whiskey and all the other rescue dogs in the world. The song was co-written by fellow singer/songwriter Helene Cronin. The video is so amazingly beautiful and over two hundred fans sent in photos of their own rescue pets, and you can't help but year up listening to it.

When The Rescue was released, Bri shared the following post on Instagram.

The post reads, in part, " It was never a “who saved who” moment for me. She saved me from a relationship that was unhealthy for me. She gave me a new focus, a new emotional support system, and a new best friend, just by existing.I’m not the only one who feels this way about a dog, and I know and love that. Every time that I play this song, I get a ton of people waiting to show me pictures of their rescue animals . The light in someone’s eyes when they tell me their rescue story makes me tear up every time."
