CARTHAGE, Mo (KOAM) - Six months after a burst pipe flooded the Jasper County Courthouse and ruined multiple offices, the County Collectors office reopens for the public to conduct business.

County Collector Steve McIntosh says he is overjoyed to see his office returned back to its original state and his staff back and working at full capacity.

McIntosh's office had just finished a two-and-a-half-year renovation one week prior to the flooding. McIntosh went on to say that he was able to reach out to the contractor who did the original renovation and get things back to nearly identical what it was before.

McIntosh says the incident was covered by insurance.

    Renovated Ceiling

For the past six months taxpayer have either conducted their business online or commuted to the Joplin office, where all the county collector staff had to work until work was finished. However, taxpayers can now go back to the courthouse.

McIntosh says the past six months affected him more than he thought.

"It got worse when they had to abate the lead-based paint on the ceiling that took all the ceiling grid down, took all the drywall out of here," said McIntosh.

McIntosh says he is thankful for the fact that the server they had was not affected in the flooding damage.
