HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — The Mark Twain house will be getting some repairs, thanks to funding from the federal government.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn) and others announced on Wednesday announced that the beloved landmark will be receiving $487,000 from the historic preservation fund to repair and replace the HVAC system in the house.

“[The house] truly is the origin of American literature, it truly is an important cultural asset of Connecticut,” David R. Jimenez, trustee of Mark Twain House, said. “It is an institution that makes literature accessible to many — not only to the citizens of Connecticut, but virtually individuals from every state in the country visit the Mark Twain House every year.”

The Twain House and Museum was the home of the legendary author and his family from 1874 to 1891.
