    Expect heavy traffic near Chesterfield County Fairgrounds for Fourth of July Celebration

    CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Chesterfield County Police Department warns residents to expect heavy traffic around the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds area for the Fourth of July Celebration.

    According to police, drivers can expect heavy traffic near the Fairgrounds on Thursday, July 4, due to Chesterfield County’s Fourth of July Celebration and fireworks display.

    Police said drivers can expect an increase in traffic starting at 4:30 p.m. and are warned of the following road closures and instructions:

    • Drivers who don’t plan on attending the event are advised to avoid the fairgrounds area, which includes Route 10 between Whitepine Road and Chesterfield Meadows Drive, between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 11 p.m.
    • Gates will open at approximately 5 p.m.
    • Drivers attending the event are required to enter the fairground from Krause Road
    • Both directions of Courthouse Road between the fairgrounds and Route 10 will close at 4 p.m.
    • Officers will direct drivers out, once the event is over
