Paris Hilton is apparently in her 'Liam Neeson era'. The heiress made the announcement on Instagram last week, referring to Neeson's legendary role in the film Taken.

Hilton, 43, recently spoke in front of the Ways and Means Committee in Washington DC to advocate for greater oversight over children in foster care and youth residential facilities.

Posting on social media after her speech, she compared herself to Neeson's Taken character Bryan Mills , who risks everything to save his daughter.

  • "In my Liam Neeson era," Hilton said. “From the California capitol in April to DC today, I will continue to advocate until every child is safe, and shine a bright light on these abuses.”

The socialite shared a video of her speech and more footage of her time in Washington. She told the US House of Representatives that she had visited facilities to hear people's stories and wanted to share them.

"They feel like they were forgotten, being shipped from facility to facility their whole childhoods," she said.

  • "Residential facilities are continuing to warehouse over 50,000 foster youth and unknown number of adopted youth and locked down facilities, innocent kids who have not committed crimes, kids whose parents didn’t have resources to support them, kids whose parents passed away, kids who have already experienced trauma.”

Hilton unwillingly spent time in treatment centers when she was a teenager, she added, and wants to see better regulations in place. Her work has helped pass multiple laws on the issue and she has promised to continue her campaign.
