The Seattle Kraken are making history by hiring Jessica Campbell as the first female full-time coach in the National Hockey League.

Driving the news: The Kraken announced Wednesday that Campbell and Bob Woods had been hired as assistant coaches on Dan Bylsma's coaching staff.

Catch up quick: Campbell comes to Seattle after spending the last two seasons in the Coachella Valley, where she helped the Firebirds reach the AHL's Calder Cup finals in consecutive seasons, according to a statement from the Kraken.

    • She was an assistant and skills coach for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in Germany and an assistant coach for Team Germany at the 2022 IIHF World Championship.
    • The Canadian native played four seasons of collegiate hockey at Cornell University before playing for the Calgary Inferno and then the Malmö Redhawks in Sweden, per the Kraken.
