Being a foster parent to an animal is no easy undertaking. Not only do you need to have the space and the resources to make it happen, but it also takes a considerable amount of time and effort to help an animal who may have been severely neglected. That kind of commitment means that the whole family needs to be on board before you take an animal in to give them a home until they find their forever humans — and that includes the pets who are already living in your house. Not all dogs and cats will take kindly to a new roommate, as temporary as it may be.
But it seems like the dog in this TikTok video was simply made for being a foster brother, especially after seeing his interactions with a puppy who needed a lot of extra love after having a pretty horrifying start to life.
On Wednesday, July 3, dog mom @kbevacqua shared a video showing how her (very fluffy) Golden Retriever , Darwin, behaves around her new foster puppy, who seems to be very emaciated due to the neglect she faced. In a comment, the OP explained that the puppy was part of a litter of seven who were abandoned to this degree, and one of the pups sadly didn't make it.
"Darwin seems to just be a therapy dog at this point," she wrote. "All of our fosters want his approval but this little girl seems to be taking to him even more than others. She seeks him out when it's nap time so that she can curl up in his fur. It took a few days for him to warm up to the idea, but he is finally coming around."
I'd say so! Darwin is being the best, most welcoming foster brother — somehow, he must know that the pup, whose name is Roo, needs him.

In an earlier post on TikTok, the OP shared that they only recently picked Roo up from the shelter in Raleigh, North Carolina.
"She could barely walk and just wanted to sleep all day in a tiny ball, but a few days of consistent eating, lots of treats, and a much needed bath, we think she's finally realized that she's safe with us," she said in the video.
Looking at the most recent video of Roo , it's clear to see that she's doing so much better already, and there's no doubt her foster brother Darwin is a big part of the reason why!
In a comment, the OP shared that once she's fully healthy again in a couple of weeks, Roo will be available for adoption. Here's hoping that someone in the Raleigh area will be able to provide the best home ever for this adorable girl. She deserves the world!
