How much money do you need to make to feel secure?

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A recent survey across the United States asked Americans how much money they need as a salary to live comfortably.

In the survey by Bankrate , Americans feel like they need to earn an average income of roughly $186,000 to be financially comfortable and secure. This number will definitely vary depending on your location in the United States as the coasts are found to be more expensive whereas the South and Midwest were found to be the most affordable.

“Looking at the actual economy… sounds about right. You want to feel secure, also depending on your age, if you have family you need to take care of,” said Ramon Ramos of Westfield.

The study crossed a wide variety of demographics. The results showed, men feel like they need more money than women and white Americans felt like they need far less compared to Black Americans.

Massachusetts was at the top of a list they created from the data, but this time, first is not the best. Massachusetts was found to be the most expensive state, where an average salary of just over $116,000 is needed to be financially secure.
