CHURCH HILL, Tenn. (WJHL) — An oversized load that was supposed to arrive at Eastman Chemical Company earlier this week is currently stopped in Hawkins County but is expected to be on the move again soon.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT), the oversized load is currently parked along State Route 346, also known as Central Avenue and Carters Valley Road.

A TDOT spokesperson wasn’t sure why the transport stopped but said it would start rolling again at 9 p.m. Friday.

The oversized load will travel down Carters Valley Road before turning onto U.S. 23/Interstate 26. It will then take Exit 4B and briefly travel on John B. Dennis Highway before turning onto Wilcox Drive. It will travel down Wilcox Drive before turning onto Lincoln Street and arriving at Eastman.

TDOT previously said the load was 20 feet wide, 229 feet long, 17 feet tall, and around 410,000 pounds.

Eastman said the load is the first of three pieces of equipment that will be transported to its Kingsport plant as part of a planned upgrade. The equipment will replace existing equipment. The other two transports are expected to occur in mid-July.
