The world’s largest drum section came together to play for a concert in France, and they were so perfectly in sync that it didn’t sound real.

The Rockin’ 1000 band met in Paris on May 14th, 2024, to perform some of the most iconic rock songs in history. While the group consists of singers, guitarists, and more, who are all equally impressive, the drummers made waves when a clip of them playing The Who’s Won’t Be Fooled Again began to circulate.

A 25-second clip from the band’s dress rehearsal shows the drum section playing with astonishing precision. Each drummer hit every beat in unison, skill—it’s unbelievable that so many musicians could come together to create something so flawless.

Of course, the entire Rockin’ 1000 band is as talented as its massive drum section, which you can see by watching the full version of Won’t Be Fooled Again here . And its beginnings are humble and wholesome.

The Rockin’ 1000 Has An Interesting Backstory

The band originally came together to convince The Foo Fighters to play in the tiny Italian town called Cesena. In 2015, a man named Fabio Zaffagnini raised $50,000 through crowdfunding and recruited 1,200 musicians to join his efforts. They gathered in Orogel Stadium and played Learn To Fly , hoping to go viral and catch The Foo Fighter’s attention.

The hard work paid off, and a video of the performance quickly earned tens of millions on YouTube. There are over 64 million views today.

The effort impressed the band. And after flying Fabio out to meet them in Seattle, The Foo Fighters headed to Cesena and put on a show.

The experience created a community for amateur musicians who wanted to stay united. So they came together as The Rockin’ 1000 and began traveling Europe.

“We didn’t expect it would go that well,” director Anita Rivarolii told Variety . “We didn’t imagine Foo Fighters would really answer our plea. And now, when these anonymous musicians play massive stadiums instead of their room or a local bar, it’s the same feeling.”

“There is a lot of ego in music. But this project tried to take it out of the equation,” she continued. “Everyone had to be on the same level for it to work. Now, every time they play someplace new, the biggest rock band on earth is just getting bigger.”
