STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man from South Carolina is facing several charges including attempted murder after he allegedly caused a series of crashes on Richmond Highway and was involved in a police chase.

On July 1 shortly after 6 p.m., deputies with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) were called to a wreck near the intersection of Richmond Highway and Coachman Circle.

On the scene, deputies learned that a Subaru SUV was traveling south when it intentionally hit the back of a motorcycle.

The Sheriff’s Office said the impact of the collision forced the motorcyclist to fall onto the hood of the SUV and hit the ground.

The driver continued going south and allegedly purposefully slammed into the side of a Ford F-150, pushing the truck toward the guardrail.

The motorcyclist had serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the F-150 was not injured.

According to the SCSO, his speeds reached over 100 mph, and authorities tried to use a tire deflation device but were unsuccessful.

That’s when the deputy hit the SUV causing it to spin and flip, near Enon Road.

Washington was arrested and charged with the following:

    • Attempted murder
    • DUI
    • Reckless driving
    • Felony eluding
