    Jackson County Commissioners celebrate grant funding for infrastructure

    JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. ( WMBB ) – Jackson County commissioners are celebrating the state grant they received for infrastructure.

    Governor Ron DeSantis presented Jackson County Commission Chairman Paul Donofro with the 4.6 million grant from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund.

    It will be used to pave and add water, sewer, and gas lines on the 1.3-mile Pooser Road. The work will bring a new business at the intersection of Pooser and Highway 267 creating 30 new jobs.

    It will also provide access to 250 new affordable housing units on the endeavor property.

    “It’s something that we’ve been pointing to for a number of years. And again, I want to commend our staff for so effectively conveying the. Importance of this grant to Jackson County. Jackson County is a rural county of critical economic Concern And the governor And his staff recognize that,” Jackson County Chairman Paul Donofro said.

    Donofro says the county has already performed a lot of the engineering work and will be bidding out the project soon. They hope to have it completed by the end of this year.
