DENVER (KDVR) — Coloradans celebrating the Fourth of July this year can get a glimpse of one of the nation’s most recognized military aircraft in action.
Since its 1975 conception in Texas, the F-16 fighter jet has been a part of U.S. military operations around the globe and has been paraded widely in home airspace .
Colorado July 4th fireworks 2024 schedule For this year’s Fourth of July celebrations , Colorado Air National Guard F-16C Vipers with the 140th Wing will take to the skies over communities across the state.
“The sight and sound of Vipers soaring overhead will serve as a powerful reminder of our nation’s strength and independence,” a Colorado National Guard release reads. “The scheduled flyovers will honor the legacy of those who have served in defense of our country and celebrate the freedoms we enjoy.”

- 10:30 a.m. Aurora launch from Buckley Space Force Base
- 10:45 a.m. Lake City Independence Day Weekend Celebration
- 10:50 a.m. Silverton 150-Year Celebration
- 10:53 a.m. Rico 4th of July Parade
- 11 a.m. Telluride 4th of July Parade
- 11:12 a.m. Redstone 4th of July Celebration
- 11:24 a.m. Granby 4th of July Parade
- 11:35 a.m. Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade
- 11:38 a.m. Firestone, 4th at Firestone
If your local community is not on the list, keep an eye on the skies anyway: The F-16s may be spotted as they fly between Independence Day celebrations.
