LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Lackawanna County Commissioners taking a major step to upgrade the county government’s cash management to increase the county’s income after years of trying to get the county out of debt.

County commissioners hired financial firm Three Plus One out of New York to begin its Cashvest program in hopes of cutting costs.

Several other Pennsylvania counties use Cashvest like Lycoming where officials have reported an increase in funds.

Along with the new firm, commissioners have started priority-based budgeting, where a consultant will help the commissioners construct a budget based on current needs rather than historical practices.

The vote to hire Three Plus One was unanimous.
