RIO GRANDE VALLEY, Texas ( ValleyCentral ) — In preparation for Hurricane Beryl, County Judge Eddie Trevino, Jr., has ordered a voluntary evacuation for RVs and other high-profile vehicles.

This notice was ordered to RV guests staying at County Parks such as Isla Blanca Park, Andy Bowie Park and Adolph Thomae, Jr. Park in Arroyo City.

This voluntary evacuation is based on the forecast by the National Weather Service regarding the storm’s potential path.

As a precautionary measure, all campers are being asked to secure loose items around campsites such as chairs, umbrellas, tables, carpets and shade canopies that could easily be tossed
by high winds and cause damage to neighboring property.

Awnings should also be retracted and tie-downs re-checked to make sure campers are properly secured.

Due to the possibility of power outages, campers are encouraged to have a backup generator on hand. Additionally, it is advised to conserve perishable food as much as possible.

Campers should stay tuned to their local weather station for the latest updates on the storm and have a plan of action in case the storm track changes or intensifies.

City events postponed due to hurricane concerns

Guests are not required to evacuate but should make sure all the precautionary measures are taken in case the current track of the storm remains accurate.

The County will provide updates on any new storm developments.
