South Bend's First Fridays Celebrates 'Backyard BBQ' Theme

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — This July, First Fridays in South Bend is embracing the essence of summer with its 'Backyard BBQ' theme. Hosted by Downtown South Bend (DTSB), the event promises to evoke the simple joys of the season—picnics, BBQs, and outdoor fun with loved ones.

On Friday, July 5th, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the 100 block of S. Michigan Street will transform into a vibrant block party. Visitors can enjoy dining right on the street and groove to the upbeat tunes of the Phat Tuesday Dixieland Band, performing a free concert.

The festivities will feature a variety of vendors offering everything from local crafts to caricature artists. Exciting activities include the return of the Gridiron Garage Sale, a thrilling BBQ cook-off, and lively games like cornhole.

For those arriving on two wheels, the South Bend Bike Garage will provide a free bike valet service at Key Bank Plaza. Additionally, architectural walking tours, the Howard Park Concert Series, and Movies at the Morris will add to the evening's entertainment lineup.

As always, parking on the streets and in city-managed garages downtown is free during evenings and weekends, making it convenient for everyone to join in the fun.
