Two veteran educators have been appointed to fill interim principal positions at two schools in Clarke County.

District Superintendent Robbie Hooker this week announced that April Braswell was appointed for W.R. Coile Middle School. She replaces Beverly Ford, who resigned recently after 18 years in the district to take a position in North Carolina.

Braswell has been principal of Whitehead Road Elementary School for the past five years, according to the school district.

Hooker appointed Bylan Swift for the same role at Whitehead, where she was currently serving as assistant principal.

“Both of these dedicated educators have a unique knowledge of the schools they will lead during the coming years,” Hooker said in a statement released with the announcement.

Braswell, who has 22 years in the system, began her local career as a math teacher at Cedar Shoals High School.

Swift, who entered the system in 2022, spent 18 years in the Gwinnett County Public Schools.
