The excitement at the Marion County Fair is scheduled to continue Thursday with a fireworks show after sunset.

The fair will celebrate the nation's Independence Day at the grandstand with a lighted golf cart parade at 8:30 p.m. and then the fireworks at 10 p.m.

Gates open 8 a.m. Thursday. Admission is $10. Children younger than 11 are free.

Rides open at noon Thursday − unlimited daily ride wristbands are $18 each, and youth with a 4-H or FFA identification are eligible for a reduced wristband rate of $15.

Grandstand seating for the fireworks show is free.

The 2024 Marion County Fair began Monday and runs through Saturday night.

This is the fair's 174th year. This year's theme is "Christmas in July." Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and the Grinch are among the 50,000 visitors expected throughout the week.
