GTA Plus: Price, perks and the latest rewards

If you just play GTA 5 single-player, you don’t need to worry about GTA Plus. It’s for folks who play GTA Online, the multiplayer component of the £7 billion-generating game.

However, it’s not free to join, and is not available across all platforms.

Is GTA Plus worth it? Let’s take a closer look at what you get.

What is GTA Plus?

GTA Plus is a monthly subscription service for GTA Online. It was introduced in 2022.

The idea is you get more per month than you’d receive by simply buying currency in-game. But, as with Netflix, there’s still no commitment to stick with the service beyond the month you pay for.

Perks include in-game currency, vehicles, cosmetics and access to in-game credit cards.

How much does GTA Plus cost?

GTA Plus costs £6.99 a month. “Subscription continues to be charged at the regular price and selected term, unless cancelled,” reads the official blurb.

What are the GTA Plus perks?

GTA Plus perks change every four to six weeks but some of the basics are largely static. A deposit of $500,000 a month is the key one. However, here’s what you get with GTA Plus each month at the time of writing in July 2024.

• An additional $1,000,000 bonus each month until August 2024
• Access to the Vinewood Club garage
• Free super-fast Överflöd Pipistrello electric car
• Independence Day-themed in-game outfits
• A handful of car liveries
• 20% discount on selected in-game cars

One part often missed is GTA Plus also lets you play a bunch of other Rockstar games . It’s like a tiny Xbox Game Pass, with games playable on console unless stated. Here’s the current list.

• Red Dead Redemption
• Grand Theft Auto Trilogy: The Definitive Edition
• Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (iOS/Android)
• Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown (iOS/Android)

There’s no access to Red Dead Redemption 2 right now, though, clearly showing you only get Rockstar’s somewhat less popular titles.

Which platforms support GTA Plus?

You can sign up for GTA Plus on Xbox Series S/X or PlayStation 5.

It’s not available on the last-generation console version of the game or on PC.

Why is GTA Plus not on PC?

GTA Plus was announced around the release of the “next generation” version of GTA Online for the Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles. This version hasn’t yet come to PC yet.

There is another issue at hand. GTA Online on PC has been subject to widespread cheating, with players using exploits to mod the game and gain a massive advantage over legitimate players. While Rockstar will ban some cheating players, you’ll find plenty of players complaining their experience was ruined by consistently coming across these cheaters.

It’s probably easier to justify a subscription service on console, where Rockstar Games has more control over its player base’s experience.

Is GTA Plus worth it?

If you were to buy an entry-level Bull Shark Card separately, you’d pay £5.99 to £6.19. That nets you $600,000 in-game currency, which is slightly above the base bonus of GTA Plus for less money.

However, at the time of writing you are granted an additional million dollars, plus access to a load of bonuses.

It is these extras that make GTA Plus potentially worthwhile, particularly if you are a newer player without a load of stuff in your game library. Do new players need it? Absolutely not.

You can also find more in-game money for less real money online. CDKeys, for example, offers a $10,000,000 Megalodon card for £16.49 at the time of writing.

Will GTA Plus work with GTA 6?

GTA Online has proved so popular, we expect to see a new version come to GTA 6 after it arrives in 2025. However, there have been no teases of the online component yet. And no word on whether items will be transferable or if GTA Plus will continue in its current form in the next-generation version.
