Radio Host Cuts Right To Chase In Biden Interview — Straight-Up Asks ‘Any Reason For American People To Be Concerned?’

Radio host Andrea Lawful-Sanders cut right to the chase when she interviewed President Joe Biden , asking him if his debate performance gave “any reason for the American people to be concerned?”

The big story to emerge from CNN’s debate Thursday night was the panic after deadly early stumbles from Biden set the tone for debate coverage — though his performance improved as the debate went on. Calls for Biden to drop out have dominated post-debate coverage.

The president’s allies point to post-debate events , and to the claim that the race hasn’t changed since the debate. On Tuesday, ABC News announced that the president has agreed to a one-on-one interview with George Stephanopoulos that will air Friday. The interview was originally set to roll out over several days, but will now air as a special on Friday.

But on Thursday, Lawful-Sanders interviewed the president for WURD’s The Source w⧸Andrea Lawful-Sanders , and the host got right to it with her first question:

Good morning, sir. How are you today?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Good morning. Andrea. It’s an honor to be here. Really.

ANDREA LAWFUL-SANDERS: It’s also– the honor is all mine. So I have a few questions for you.

The first one is a lot of people are talking about the debate and your performance. Is there any reason for the American people to be concerned?

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: No, I had a bad debate. (laughs).

ANDREA LAWFUL-SANDERS: Yeah.(laughs)

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: I had a bad debate. But 90 minute on stage does not erase what I’ve done for three and a half years.

I led our economy back from the brink. It’s still improving. Lowered prescription drug costs. You know, work with Republicans to expand veterans healthcare, rallied 50 nations to stand against Putin. Proud of the record. And we just gotta keep moving.
