A fridge was pushed out the back of a van towards a police car during a high-speed chase in Wales .

Cardiff Crown Court heard how a can of cider, a spanner and a bottle of an unknown liquid were also thrown at the police car as Daniel Symmons, 31, sped away from officers through the town of Llantrisant.

The fridge was pushed from the back of the van before it raced into nearby Tonyrefail doing 50mph in a 20mph zone on 28 April.

It later stopped and reverse-rammed the police vehicle, injuring the officer.

Symmons, who was found to be under the influence of cocaine, eventually abandoned the van and tried to get away on foot, before being stopped with the help of a member of the public.

He has been sentenced to 10 months in prison and banned from driving for 23 months.
