Mercedes Moné Comments On Speaking To Shane McMahon At The Airport

Podcaster Conrad Thompson recently claimed that Shane McMahon had spoken to several AEW talents about possibly joining Tony Khan’s company. This would subsequently result in a great deal of debate among fans on whether this would be a good or bad move for all concerned, although once Khan confirmed in an interview that he’d never spoken to McMahon, the speculation would die down.

However, after it was reported that Mercedes Moné had been spotted speaking to McMahon at Laguardia Airport, the chatter resumed regarding this possibility. And now the AEW talent has confirmed the reports were indeed accurate via her latest newsletter , although she would play it off as a simple coincidence, which it almost certainly was.

“I walked into the airport, was in line by the bagel shop when I suddenly looked up, and there he was, just as surprised as I was. My first day being a double title holder and the first wrestler and former WWE Superstar I see is McMahon….come on, if that isn’t the universe working in divine timing, I don’t know what else it could be … I’ve always loved Shane. When we locked eyes, we both kind of looked at each other like IS THAT YOU? Our faces lit up as we got to talking a bit and before he boarded his flight, he gave me his number… the rest as they say a history or maybe a mystery!”

Since suffering a torn quad at the beginning of an impromptu match with The Miz at WrestleMania 39, 54-year-old McMahon has been absent from the wrestling spotlight. Prior to that, he had been away from WWE for 14 months after receiving harsh criticism both internally and externally for the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble match that he was involved in booking. Therefore, given this and the fact that his father, Vince McMahon, resigned in disgrace earlier this year, the idea of Shane making an appearance for AEW doesn’t seem as far-fetched as it once would have.
