Hosts Germany face in-form Spain with a place in the semifinals of Euro 2024 on the line.

Spain had a flawless run in the group stage, picking up three wins without conceding a goal. They defeated Croatia, Italy, and Albania and this achievement made them only the second team to win all three round-robin games without conceding after Italy did so on their way to winning Euro 2020.

Spain vs. Germany head-to-head record

Spain remain unbeaten in their past four matches against Germany. In the 2020/21 Nations League group stages, La Roja stormed to a 6-0 win as Ferran Torres — likely to be a substitute on Friday — scored a hat-trick.

The other three most recent matches all been tight affairs and ended in draws, with their most recent clash coming in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

That match finished 1-1 after goals from Alvaro Morata and Niclas Fullkrug, both of whom will have a part to play in Stuttgart.

Spain got the better of Germany in the 2010 World Cup semi-final, the Euro 2008 final, and the Euro 84 group stage, also going on to reach he final of the latter tournament where they lost to hosts France.

Meanwhile, Germany came out on top in the group stages of the 1966 and 1982 World Cups, as well as at Euro 76 and Euro 88.

The largest margin of victory between the two was that 6-0 that hammering Germany suffered in the Nations League.

Morata kicked off the scoring that night before Torres took centre stage. Rodri, as he did against Georgia, found the back of the net before Mikel Oyarzabal added further gloss to the scoreline.
