The iconic Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is already underway on this 2024 Fourth of July holiday.

And despite Joey Chestnut not participating in the event, there are still a lot of eyes on the legendary battle between some of the world's best competitive eaters.

The women's part of the contest has already taken place.

And winner Miki Sudo made competitive eating history today as she set a women's record with 51 hot dogs eaten to claim her 10th Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest championship.

While this record can't compete with what Chesnut has produced, Sudo has cemented herself in the record books with Thursday's performance.

Joey Chestnut sat out this year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest because of a contract dispute. He has won the event 16 times.

Fans are praising Sudo's record on social media.

"The Glizzy Queen reigns supreme," one X user wrote.

"Wow that literally was a dominating performance kudos to her!!" said another.

A third fan commented on the event's timing by saying: "They can’t wait until noon to kick this off huh? Stuffing glizzys down your throat at the top of the morning will forever be funny lol".

Chestnut or no, at least there are other competitive eating icons to carry the torch at this year's Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.
