The Acolyte Showrunner Responds To Review Bombers in New Interview

Showrunner of The Acolyte , Leslye Headland, made it clear in a new interview with Collider what she thinks of review bombing from internet trolls who haven't yet watched the show but still took to Rotten Tomatoes to give it a low rating nonetheless.

Despite having an 83% rating from critics, The Acolyte currently holds a 14% audience score.

"Does anybody take that seriously anymore?" Headland asked her publicist when the show first came out.

Headland doesn't view it as something to be concerned about, however. "I understand the point of it, which is that the average viewer would look at the site and say, "Oh, the user review is really low"," she said to Collider. "But I think that, if you're in the Star Wars fandom, I think you already know what review bombing is."

"I guess if you're totally new to the fandom and you're considering watching the show, it could affect you," she said. "But I also think that my work in the past has been very word-of-mouth anyway, so I don't know if it… I think that because behind the scenes, we all know what it is — it's not that it's not concerning — but I think it's pretty expected. I would say."

The Acolyte hit Disney+ on June 4, with new episodes landing weekly.
