CLIP: Twisters Featurette Takes You Inside a Tornado

A new featurette for Twisters takes you inside a tornado.

The footage, released on Universal’s YouTube channel, includes fresh clips from the upcoming disaster movie. We see how the crew of tornado chasers use technology to increase their odds of survival.

For example, their truck is rigged up with a drill that bores down into the ground and anchors it to stop it blowing away. At one point a tornado chaser flies a drone using VR goggles to track a tornado.

It’s a lot more tech than they got in the original 1996 movie, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll come away unscathed from a brush with one of nature’s most terrifying forces.

Daisy Edgar-Jones stars as Kate Carter, a former storm chaser who prefers a quiet life studying weather patterns on screens after nearly losing her life in the field. She’s lured back to test a new tornado tracking system.

As per the synopsis, “she crosses paths with Tyler Owens (Powell), the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.” Check out the new footage below.

What else is in it? Twisters features “intense action and peril,” and “injury images."
